Pretty much. Came home from work for an hour and spent that time in WvW.
As I have posted before, I want to work towards 100% map completion with Tobi. Of course, the parts of the maps I need, are seemingly not very often owned by IoJ. I was just going to run around trying to get stuff, but I logged in when there was a commander getting a group going so I decided to follow.
Out of this, I got only 1 POI checked off my list. However, we were working in an area where we had nothing captured and obviously there were not a lot of people from the other server on. As we ran through and captured stuff pretty quick. It was a pretty good group. I did knock out several WvW achievements which was a bonus. Needed to spend some badge of honor points to get the achievement done, so I bought some blueprints. Before I got offline I decided to send them to the commander who was leading the group I was running with.
To support the IoJ WvW effort I think I'm just going to do that randomly when I go into WvW. When I have money or badge of honor points to spare, or when I get blueprints out of chests. Not a bad deal. Even if I don't use them myself, I can use them to support the server.
While I didn't accomplish what I wanted, I still felt like it was a productive lunch in the long run. And it was fun. Win...
Currently I'm doing it with Tobi, my ranger. And I've seen a lot of posts in various places - people complaining about not wanting more rangers in WvW. I'm not trying to be stubborn. Or cause WvW issues or complaints. I'm solely doing it right now with Tobi to try to get the 100% World Map Completion. I'm at 96 or 97%. After that I'm going to figure out which of my other chars would be better suited to WvW and that'll be who I run WvW with.
For anyone who hasn't tried WvW, it should be checked out. I recommend trying it, more than once. I was leery about trying it at first. My first time in I had Taraama D helping to teach me the ropes. And I have to say, first time in… I was OVERWHELMED. There can be a lot going on, especially if you start trying to pay attention to the map chatter (which you should… it's important stuff). And there is a lot of new stuff that you need to know, and pay attention to. They have their own WvW lingo. When they announce # of _____ heading to ______. Because someone has seen whatever # of bad guys heading towards a point that we have. This allowing a group to head there to defend. That sort of thing.
But now I've done it a few times. And I'm not saying, by any means that I'm an expert by any sense of the word. Not even close, I know this. But I've kinda settled in with what to look for. What to look out for. And realistically you can follow the herd (if you spend any time running around in there, you'll get what I mean) and fight when they fight, help capture or defend, depending on what they're doing. And you'll get along just fine.
There's a chance you may die a lot doing WvW. But the rewards will make up for it, I think. In the heat of the fight, if you go down, don't expect people to stop to get you up, if the fight is over that might be different but people tend to move on pretty quickly. You're going to need to WP. This can be another pain. There is a lot of running around in WvW. Any kind of speed boosts help. If you're running with the herd often times people will uses speed boosts that as long as you're keeping up should be able to help you keep up.
Okay… back to work I go. Just felt like sharing.
*Cheers*
