Hey y'all. I finished up the achievements last night for the Nightmare is Over stuff (not bragging, at all, trust me). But I wanted to share the information that I learned from both reading things on line and actual doing the stuff. To help anyone who hasn't done it yet or is frustrated.
First time you go into Kessex, you'll get sent into story mode. You can exit it, if you don't want to complete it at the time. You can go back into the story mode by talking to Majory’s Helper Dee in Kessex. If you select that option that says something about the tower, it'll give you the option to re-enter Nightmare Ends.
To get all of the achievements, you'll have to go through the story stuff twice. Once, solving each of the 4 puzzles to continue the story and a second time choosing to fight (instead of solving the puzzles). I don't want to post the puzzle solutions here, for anyone who wants to figure it out on their own. But, if you don't or you're stuck, you can look it up online or message me and I can help. There are 4 puzzles, fairly easy to solve.
The fights can be a little tough. My suggestions for the fights… If you can, only aggro 1 thing at a time (if possible). Try to kill the regular enemies 1st. Then knock out the vet. That makes the vet easier to deal with. For the molten vet when he's got he flame stuff going on (you'll know what I mean once you see it) you'll notice he doesn't take damage. Once the flames go away, you can resume hitting him for damage.
After the puzzle part, you have to eliminate some toxic creatures. They can be kind of a pain in the butt too. But it shouldn't be bad enough you can't make it through. I did get downed a few times one of the times I went through it and I was helped back up by one of the NPCs that's in there with you.
I have to say, I don't always watch cut scenes (I love them, I'm just impatient sometimes). I loved the cut scene at the end of this story. I don't think it gives you the option of skipping it even. It shows the destruction of the tower. Maybe I'm a nerd, but I thought it was awesome.
For some of the other nightmare related achievements:
First suggestion - Don't attempt any of these by yourself! It's meant to be a group thing. And they've got groups pretty much running constantly back and forth between the 2 Spider locations, the Wurm location and the Alchemist location. Watch map chat, that'll give you an idea of what's up and where people are and join them.
The Spider Queen, Wurm Queen and Alchemist all need to be killed once, before their secondary achievements will be unlocked for you. To get these secondary achievements done, you don't want these boss's to be killed as quickly as possible. If you just run up and start killing, chances are there will be people yelling about it in map chat. Hit it enough so that you'll get credit for the kill and then you can stop doing damage for awhile.
Secondary achievements:
Jumping over the worm's shockwaves. The people running these bosses a lot, try to get people to stack to do this achievement (all standing as close together as possible). It does make it easier. Makes it so the shock waves go in the same direction. If everyone is scattered the shockwaves go in every direction, makes it hard to be standing in the right spot. So… stacking is a good thing. You don't need to stand there jumping up and down constantly, as I see a lot of people doing. It's a matter of timing. There is a pattern to what the worm does. The shockwaves come, after it slams it's head into the ground. You need to jump it 5 times to get the 2 achievements done. This will probably take more than one round with the worm, unless you're really lucky. Some jumps might not register, it can be frustrating, don't give up just try again. They spawn pretty regularly, so it shouldn't take too long.
Don't be surprised when the wurm dies and it doesn't drop anything. The wurm isn't a champ. (The Spider Queen is a champ, as is one of the versions of the Alchemist).
Another important note (goes for all 3 of these events)… If you see a red circle on the ground around you - MOVE! The toxic plant things that sprout up will explode and can put you into a downed position easily. So pay attention. There are other AoE things going off too, which can make it hard for people to pick you back up.
Queen Spider Cocoons - After you kill the spider the first time, you'll notice she'll randomly put people into cocoons. She might do it to you, when that happens you lose all your normal skills and the only thing you can do is the 1 skill which allows you to punch. This achievement was more of a pain for me than the worm was, because the cocoons break pretty quickly, so if there's a lot of people doing this it can be hard to hit it enough to get credit for breaking them. You'll again, when you start want to hit the spider so you will get credit when she dies. And then back off the spider, and focus on looking for cocoons. I lucked out my last round doing this because I got stuck in a cocoon 3 times. Makes it easier to get credit for it.
Alchemist - You have to kill 5 toxifiers for this achievement. They're the bulbs shooting toxin in the air. The alchemist will spawn the first time as a Vet. It'll go back and forth between the toxifiers being up (which stops you from being able to do damage to him) to fighting him. He'll spawn the 2nd time as a champ. Same deal, get rid of the toxifiers to fight him. Also note, there will be a 2nd champ creature that spawns during the fight. You'll want to try to avoid that til the alchemist part is over. The group usually stays around to fight it, because people want the drops from the champs. If the group leaves, I'd leave too.
There's also an achievement for completing 10 events in kessex, which you should complete if you do all the events needed for the wurm, spider and alchemist.
You'll also need to do some daily achievements to finish off this meta achievement.
Also, sometime this month we should try to get together and get a group to do the Tixx stuff. We've got plenty of time to do that though, but just something to keep in mind.
That's all for now. If anyone else has any info they want to share or suggestions, please post.
*Cheers*
