Heyas. Just thought I'd mention some of my experiences last night with the new living story content thus far.
For those of you who haven't been there yet, you start out in far southwestern Brisban Wildlands. There's a new POI and a green star that marks where you start the story portion of the content. I think you can party up to do this. I was able to do it by myself with Tobes, although I did die a few times. When you die it gives you the option of Restarting from Checkpoint (which is what I did) or leaving the instance which would mean you'd have to start over. Restarting from check point didn't really take you back too far, the fight you died in would still be going on (creatures almost dead still had reduced health). But you would respawn a little way away from the fight.
One fight in the story instance, when you have to go after the Vet. Golem, it's surrounded by mini golumites (sp). Those things are a pain in the ARSE! At first I figured kill them and then concentrate on the vet. I think this was where most of my deaths occurred. If they get close to you they knock you back, so with the little mob of them swarming you, you can get knocked around til you're dead basically. So it's maybe best to keep running, doing damage to the vet until that's dead (which continues the story). Just my opinion, other people might have different experiences.
Also in the area where that starts is the gateway to the "new area". In the new area, there's further story stuff to do. You have the Wind/Sun/Lightening skills again, HOWEVER, they now have a timer. So once you get the crystal you don't want to putz around. You need to use the crystals for what you need them for or they go away. I found a few instances where this becomes very annoying.
There will also be events going on in the new area. Some of which you'll need to progress to get to areas of the map (which are sometimes locked) to get all the pois and such. There are pois, 1 or 2 vistas, a skill point. There is also a jumping puzzle and a diving goggles in the new area. I haven't gone through all the achievements yet to see what all you need to do. One of them is find 30 lost coins, which you'll find all over the map. You'll also find "buried chests". If you see these, please note that you need to buy lockpicks to open them. There are vendors in this area that sell stuff. You need geodes to purchase stuff from them. You get them from doing events in the area. What they sell changes depending on what "tier" the map is on. You have to gain favor to increase the tiers, through doing events and such. While I was on we made it to tier 2, I don't know if it goes higher than that.
There are nodes for gathering different materials in this area. Some of them are new. Cactus's for example. I also found new salvageable things that give you new materials.
I'll share more information as I find it. And I'm sure pretty soon dulfy.net will come out with an achievement guide. They always do a great job of mapping out things like lost coins. I'll keep an eye out for that and share the link when it's up for anyone who wants/needs help with achievements.
All for now
